Full and part-time professors at Loyalist College could strike as soon as Monday, if a contract settlement isn't reached by then. In a memo to students yesterday, college President and CEO Dr. Anne Marie Vaughan says OPSEU has notified the College Employer Council about the possible strike, if the two sides can't agree by Sunday at midnight. If a strike happens, she says there will be no daytime classes for students or apprentices, but some online classes will continue. Details at The college and facilities including residence, the cafeteria and Shark Tank Pub, the library, computer labs, the Digital Media Centre, college offices and more will remain open. Blackboard will stay active, although students won't have communication with professors. Varsity athletics and work study jobs will continue. Semester contingency plans are in-place to ensure students finish their semesters. Vaughan adds that no one has ever lost their year because of a strike in the college's 50 year history.
