It's been a busy year for downtown Brighton, but the group says it's in a solid position heading into 2018. The Brighton DBIA approved an annual budget of just over $42,000 at last night's annual general meeting at Vito's. That's up from nearly $39,000 in 2017 - with changes including support of the new theatre-style structure at Memorial Park and Art on Main becoming a private event. All three executive members stood for their positions, while Gina Boyd of G. Boyd Boutique was appointed as secretary. President Sandy Pasko with Dragonfly says they're excited to kick-off the new year with a full board and all executive positions filled.

The group is also sponsoring the inaugural Brighton-Cramahe Business Achievement Awards - Nominations are being accepted at 10 ballots boxes around town until Jan. 23. The DBIA meets Feb. 1 at 5:45 p.m. at 35 Alice St.
