FATAL FIRE CLAIMS TWO LIVES IN BRIGHTON

A house fire on Harbour Street has claimed two lives this morning. Brighton fire was called to the fully-engulfed home just before 7:30 a.m. Firefighters discovered the first victim when trying to knock down the flames and later found a second person deceased. The blaze is contained and crews are on-scene trying to knock-out hot spots until the Fire Marshall arrives. It's not known what the cause was or if there were working fire/smoke alarms. No names have been released until next of kin is notified. Cramahe and Trent Hills fire are offering back-up for Brighton halls 1 and 2. OPP say Harbour Street between Ontario Street and Edgewater Drive in Brighton is closed - The public is asked to avoid the area as clean-up continues. In a news release, Mayor Mark Walas and Fire Chief Lloyd Hutchinson say they're saddened by the incident and offer condolences to the loved ones of the victims.
