LOWER TRENT ISSUES WATER STATEMENT FOR WEEKEND
1/12/2018 9:55:07 AM

Lower Trent Conservation has issued a Water Levels Statement for the region from Quinte West to Grafton, and from Lake Ontario to Rice Lake. Rivers and streams within the watershed region are currently flowing in the normal range for this time of year, but the above-freezing temperatures and expected rainfall will initiate some melting of the snow pack over the next 36 hours. No flooding problems are anticipated, but ice jams are a possibility. Water levels and flows on the Trent River are expected to remain stable but all local rivers, streams and lakes should be considered extremely dangerous and ice cover may become unstable and hazardous. If residents notice any change in expectation, they should call the Lower Trent Conservation office at (613) 394-4829. The statement remains in effect until tomorrow.
