NORTHUMBERLAND CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 3/8/2018 9:22:59 AM
It's a day to celebrate and empower women - It's International Women's Day and in our community many woman lead the way.
We are putting the spotlight on Alexis Smith of Colborne, who is the newest Chair at the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce, being sworn in in late January.
She is also the co-chair of the 2018 Business Achievement Awards Committee. Smith works as the key account representative at Lakefront Utility Services Inc. She's co-owner of a womens' only gym in Cobourg, Curves, which she co-owns with her mother, Debbie Smith.
Smith grew up in Uxbridge but moved to Cobourg when she was just a child. She is a previous Cobourg Collegiate Institute student who went on to graduate from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts. Her friendly smile, quick wit and modest attitude goes a long way and our community is a better place because of her.
Yes, she wears many hats, making her a very busy lady, but says, "Life is busy for everyone and to just go for it".
Dereck Paul, president and CEO of Lakefront Utilities Inc., can't say enough good things about Smith.
Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization that acts as the voice of business with networking opportunities, business seminars and events scheduled throughout the year.
International Women's Day is a day to celebrate a day dedicated to respect, appreciation, and love towards women for their professional, economic, political and social achievements.
