QW FIREFIGHTERS REACH DEAL WITH CITY

The City of Quinte West and the Quinte West Professional Firefighters Association have reached a new collective agreement. Both parties are considering the negotiations successful after coming up with a renewal of their agreement in just one day of bargaining. The new agreement with be in place until December of 2020, and will include annual wage increases of 1.8 per cent each year. Other additions include increases to vision care and retiree benefits. In a release, Mayor Jim Harrison says he's happy with the agreement, and the fact that they were able to come up with a fair contract for the firefighters. He adds that, "We have a deep respect for all of our firefighters, both career and volunteer."
