The first ever Quinte Criterium cycling race is this Sunday.

That was Quinte West Senior Tourism and Special Events Officer Jennifer Rushlow. Teams from as far away as the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia will compete with Canadian athletes at this Ontario Cycling Association event. It starts at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens, from there cyclists race around a 1.7km loop along Couch Crescent and Bay Street. Depending on the category the distance will range between 40 and 60 kilometres. There are categories for men, women, juniors and para-athletes also in various age groups.

Bay Street will be closed between South Street and Tindall Street from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The splash pad and skate park will also be inaccessible by car during this time.
