SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES $415 MILLION BUDGET

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has approved its budget for the 2018-2019 year. The balanced budget sits at $414,564,620 - The budget reflects continued overall growth for the board, with a stong increase in elementary enrolment of over 800 students expected this year. Over the past five years, the board's elementary enrolment has increased by almost 1500 students. The budget also looks at three priorities: innovative and engaging learning in every classroom, mental health and well-being and service excellence. It also includes over $50 million to support students with special needs and over $22 million in capital funding dedicated to things like library and science room enhancements and annual building improvements like lighting or window replacements. Over the last five years, the board has invested over $180 million enhancements and improvements to its schools.
