'Buck-a-Beer' is back, just in-time for the next long weekend. Ontario Premier Doug Ford visited Barley Days Brewery in Picton this morning - He announced that his government is lowering the price floor back to $1, as of Aug. 27, on any beer with an alcohol volume less than 5.6 per cent. Ford also kicked-off the 'Buck-a-Beer Challenge' - All brewers who decrease their prices on or by the deadline, will be considered for limited-time LCBO promotions. Today's price floor sits at $1.25 per beer, up from just $1 between 2005 and 2008. This doesn't apply to draft beer in restaurants/bars or other drinks like ciders, wines and spirits. The premier made the announcement with Bay of Quinte MPP and Minister of Government and Consumer Services Todd Smith and Minister of Finance Vic Fedeli. Ford says they trust that Ontarians will continue to drink responsibly and make safe choices.
