If there is one way to recruit new doctors it is with the help of the community. It's been a year since the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation presented the idea of a physician recruitment and retention program to Quinte West council. Since March, Paula Mason has worked to help launch the program. So far, they've had five different recruitment events where they have gathered over 140 names of medical students, residents and doctors. This list also includes 30 who have ties to the local area or have shown a special interest in the Quinte area. The hope of this program is to build relationships with future doctors so that when they finish their education they will consider building their practice locally. Mason says showcasing the community and showing how great our city is by including the potential doctors in barbecues and other events is a way that the community can help out in this process.
