The Cobourg Police Service is about to see a change in leadership.
After 7 years as the chief of police, Kai Liu is retiring from municipal policing in order to take on a new opportunity as chief of the Treaty Three Police Service.
Liu will be leaving the Cobourg Police Service in the hands of Paul VandeGraaf, who he says has been working towards this role for years.
VandeGraaf says he’s looking forward to continuing on the successes that have been seen with Liu as chief and himself as deputy chief, but also leaving his own mark on the Town of Cobourg.
VandeGraaf says an example is working with the town to build better roads that’ll be safer.
He adds that they’re going to continue things like lemonade stands and breakfast programs because they’re great, while continuing to look for the new best idea.
VandeGraaf will officially take the reigns at a change of command ceremony that is being schedule for the middle of this month (Aug).
