Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Trustees is looking for candidates who are interested in filling a vacancy created by the recent loss of a trustee.
In accordance with the provincial Education Act, the KPRDSB has authorized administrators to begin the process of seeking a qualified person for appointment to the position of Trustee, as a result of the sad passing of Trustee Shirley Patterson. The vacancy is for the constituency of Township of Asphodel-Norwood, Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, and Municipality of Trent Hills, for the balance of the electoral term, which concludes November 30, 2022.
“We all continue to feel the loss of Shirley acutely – her caring and compassion for all students and her genuine warmth for whomever was in her company are deeply missed,” says Diane Lloyd, Chairperson. “Shirley was an incredibly strong supporter of public education and her communities and would want us to move forward with ensuring the voices of those communities are heard at the Board table.”
A person is qualified to be a school board trustee if the person is qualified to vote in a school board election. A public school elector, as set out in provincial legislation, means a person who meets all of the following requirements:
• a resident within the jurisdiction of the board
• an English-language Public Board supporter
• a Canadian citizen
• at least 18 years old
The Board invites interested candidates to apply for the vacancy. Written submissions, including views on public education provincially and locally, are to be received by Dr. Jennifer Leclerc, Director of Education by 4:00 p.m., on March 18, 2020. (Jennifer_Leclerc@kprdsb.ca)
