Docs By The Bay Physician Recruitment and Retention Program and the City of Quinte West are very pleased to announce they have signed Dr. Sofija Rans to a Medical Services Agreement. Dr. Rans graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton with an Hons. BSc. with a specialization in Global Health. She received her medical degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax and completed her family medicine residency at McMaster.
Rans will begin practicing in early fall at the Quinte West site of the Belleville-Quinte West Community Health Centre and will be building her practice from patients on the BQWCHC waitlist. Patients selected will be contacted directly by the BQWCHC and we ask that you kindly DO NOT call the office yourself, as they are operating with limited staff due to the COVID-19 situation. “I grew up all over Canada, and am so excited to have found a community that “checks all the boxes” to settle down in. As my partner and I were looking for a place to settle down, we explored many communities throughout Ontario, and after spending time in Quinte West, we knew we had found our home said Dr. Rans.
“We’re so happy to welcome another doctor to Quinte West. Many people in the area will benefit from having access to a primary care physician,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “This is a great place to live and raise a family, and we hope that Dr. Rans will be very happy here.” Aleesha Camp, chair of the Docs By the Bay Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee remarked, “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, our Physician Recruitment program continues to achieve success in attracting new doctors to our community. We are very pleased that Dr. Rans chose Quinte West to set up her practice. She becomes the 3rd physician signed this year, and the 8th since our inception in early 2018.”
Docs By The Bay is sponsored by Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, the City of Quinte West and the Municipality of Brighton.
