September 22. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued by environment Canada for Northumberland County. Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Significant rainfall is expected through Thursday morning with rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 mm by early Thursday morning with a few localities possibly reaching up to 75 mm. This rain saturation is due to a cold front and a low pressure system from the American Mid-west.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
