The Brighton Rotary Club is organizing a district wide fundraiser in support of Nature Conservancy Ontatio with their new Friendship Tree Fundraiser.
One of the pillars of The Rotary Club is to support activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment.
This year the Brighton Rotary Club has undertaken a project to sell ornaments from Hoseltons that are in the shape of a white pine tree and with it, a mini trifold brochure that educates buyers on the history of Rotary and Paul Harris’ original Friendship Tree concept. Also included are some white pine tree seeds suitable for planting.
“A portion of each purchase goes to the Nature Conservancy of Canada,” said Brighton Rotarian Liesje Wagner. “We are also coordinating this project for our entire district. Rotarians are some of the earliest and passionate tree huggers.”
The ornament is 4” x 3 1/2” and is made of recycled aluminum and has a polished finish. Each is packaged in yellow/gold tissue and tucked into a blue velvet sack.
“The White Pine is our first edition, with a new tree coming each year,” added Wagner.
The price is $44.95 each. For more information about purchasing an ornament contact Brighton Rotarian Liesje Wagner at dollivertwist2014@gmail.com.
