The East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) Blue Dragons track and field team recorded impressive results at the Bay of Quinte Invitational track and field meet in Belleville on May 4.
The numerous top-three finishes by ENSS athletes at the Quinte Invitational meet sets up the Blue Dragons’ track and field team perfectly for Wednesday’s Bay of Quinte Track and Field Championships, also hosted in Belleville.
Despite rain, athletes, coaches and officials were thrilled to be back at the track for the Quinte Invitational — the first high school meet in Belleville since 2019.
Top-three finishers from ENSS included the following:
NOVICE DIVISION
Jacob Wamboldt – first in 200 metres (26.80 seconds), second in 100 metres
(13.49s) and 300-metre hurdles (51.49s)
Lina Goddard – first in discus (17.25 metres), third in shotput (5.82m)
Annabelle Jouwstra – first in javelin (20.95 m), third in discus (15.88m)
Hailey McMurter – first in high jump (1.30), third in 100 m (15.33s)
Abby Clitherow – second in both 80m hurdles (16.76 s) and 300m hurdles (57.46s)
Cadence Tait – second in both 800m (2:49) and 1500 m (5:53)
Ella Bernard – second in high jump (1.20m)
Jacob Fulford – third in both 400 m (1:02) and 300m hurdles (51.73s)
Ethan Miklos – second in 1500m (5:09)
Claire McDonald – third in 800m (2:50)
Emily Metcalf – third in javelin (16.64m)
Both the girls’ and the boys’ novice 4-x 100-m relay teams placed second.

The girls’ senior 4-x-100m relay team – Halle Woodcock, Sophia Schmoll, Layla Vis, Madison Livingstone – placed first (55.83s).
The boys’ senior relay team finished second.
Both the open girls’ 4-x-400 m relay (4:42)
and the open boys’ 4-x-400 m relay (3:47) captured first place.
