Graham Beer is the executive producer and founder of Cobourg Media. He’s a community leader with a decade of entrepreneurship in Cobourg and he’s a busy guy.
Graham graduated this year with a degree from Ryerson in Radio and Television and while that’s pretty impressive by itself, over the last two years he’s also found the time to run his business, work on productions for Film Access Northumberland, create promotions for the Eye2Eye Film Festival as well as produce live, multi-camera events at the University. Oh, and he was also a residence advisor, supporting the teaching faculty in lectures, instructing students in tutorials and assisting with the classwork marking.
Graham was also involved with Northumberland Rocks Back, a benefit concert last summer in support of the Northumberland United Way COVID-19 Relief Fund. With My Broadcasting Corporation/Classic Rock’s York Bell-Smith, he co-hosted as well as chaired and was executive producer of the event which raised over $25,000.
Graham told us that, on the other side of the pandemic, there are still barriers facing youth. Whether it’s joining a sports club or participating in an “arts” activity, we need to find ways to help them come together. “I do think there are lots of barriers and as a community, we need to look at those barriers and address them”.
An advocate of social media, Graham told us he saw youth come together during the pandemic to tell their stories. “…and I think we saw some really positive outcomes when we were all dealing with negative stuff”.
