Salish Chanka and Rabie Ira have purchased the Applefest Lodge in Brighton.
The Applefest Lodge was established in 1983 and expanded with a new addition in 2010.
The Applefest Lodge is an assisted living facility and offers many activities at their location for residents so that they can maintain a healthy lifestyle, encouraging movement and socializing with their peers. Being able to chat with other residents becomes an important part of many peoples’ lives and Applefest Lodge offers common spaces indoors to support that need. (Modified during COVID restrictions of course). Staff are available 24 hours a day so if any emergencies occur no matter the time, there will be someone ready to help. Making sure residents with diabetes monitor their insulin levels is clearly an important task and Applefest Lodge can help with that task. If a resident needs assistance moving from a bed to a wheelchair, this facility has staff who can help.
“My parents lived in an assisted living retirement home in India and one of the personal satifications that I have running this type of home is that that we are offering a vital community-based service,” said Salish.
When asked if they have any future plans for Applefest, the new owners already have plans in place.
“We want to engage more with the local community and participate in local events like Applefest, so that more people know about our facility,” said Rabie. “We will also be looking at what expansion is possible on this site and perhaps other locations that might be available in Brighton.”
