Port Hope Council will receive a high-level overview of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) Project on Tuesday, January 10th from Atomic Energy of Canada Limited’s Jim McCafferty, their Director of Decommissioning and Remediation.
This is one of Canada’s largest environmental remediation projects involving nearly 1.7 million cubic metres of low-level radioactive waste.
Discussion will focus on the background of the project, as well as Atomic Energy, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and the municipality’s roles and responsibilities, Legal Agreement Considerations and the plan going forward.
