It’s Pink Shirt Day today as students across the country dress in pink as a message against bullying.
The origin story is well known now, beginning in small-town Nova Scotia by then high schooler Travis Price, who organized a high-school protest to wear pink in sympathy with another student who was bullied for wearing pink to school.
The money raised through t-shirt sales and donations through Pink Shirt Day Canada go towards the WITS Programs Foundation, or WPF, whose goal is to create a safe learning environment. They also offer mentorship programs, and exist in over 1,400 elementary schools across North America and Europe.
