It takes a village to fundraise for a new sign.
The new electronic sign is up at the Codrington Community Centre after the wind storm in 2020 damaged the previous wooden sign.
At a total cost of $15,000, countless fundraisers and some help from local businesses and foundations, the Codrington Community Centre has its long awaited electronic sign installed.
“It’s already proving to be an asset,” said Kathy McCormick – volunteer with the Codrington Community Centre Association. “We are advertising our weekly events and we had new people stop in because they saw the information on the sign when they were driving by the centre.”
McCormick said the timing was a bit serendipitous.
Not only will the new sign advertise the activities of the Codrington Community Centre it can be used to advertise events nearby too.
“If there is an event coming up in the Municipality of Brighton, we would be happy to include the information on our sign too,” added McCormick. “It will also be good if there is an emergency or if the fire department or Municipality needs to share information, it can used to help share news too.”
If you are driving by the centre you will of course see information about the weekly events at the Codrington Community Centre, including the Library and the Early On Centre too.
McCormick said it was a community effort.
A highlight of weekly events include: Monday Night Music, Tuesday Breakfast, Thursday Early On Centre and Friday night euchre.
It’s been a while in the making but thanks to the efforts of local volunteers, the new sign was purchased and installed at the Codrington Community Centre located at 2992 County Road 30 in Codrington, Ontario.
