Songs and stories celebrating the life of a Canadian musical and cultural icon will be centre stage at Port Hope’s Capital Theatre.
Directed by theatre artistic director Rob Kempson, The Ballad of Stompin’ Tom opens June 9th and continues through July 2nd, taking audiences on a immersive journey highlighting the singer’s remarkable life and music.
Kempson says the production is woven with various episodes of Stompin’ Tom’s life and, yes, features songs that are seared in the memory of many.
Kempson says there’s a connection between what Stompin’ Tom stood for and the staging of the musical in Port Hope.
While the finishing touches are now being put on the production via rehearsals, Kempson notes there remains to be added one key ingredient that will ensure its success.
