Cramahe Township is promoting long-time member, Matt Halmasy, as Fire Chief.
Starting as a firefighter with Alnwick Haldimand Fire Rescue, Halmasy rose to Captain there– Then was promoted to Deputy Chief with Cramahe Fire Department.
With no short of years behind his lofty pursuits in fire rescue, Halmasy has been working for the past 24 years, and he says he’s excited to be promoted.
“I look forward to my new position as Fire Chief and serving the community in Cramahe Township,” he says.
Matt is a member of the Northumberland County Fire Chiefs Association and was past member of the Northumberland County Training Association as well as an instructor for Eastern Ontario Emergency Training Academy.
Incumbent Cramahe Township Fire Chief, Mark MacDonald is facilitating this transition with the volunteer Fire Department. With over 30 years of Municipal and Provincial Fire service experience, Chief MacDonald will be assuming a Provincial Fire Association position.
Deputy Chief Matt Halmasy will begin his transition to his new duties Monday August 21, 2023. His role will be effective September 5.
