County Staff are reviewing by-law passed by Cobourg Council to delegate permitting to the County for encampments
Last week, County staff became aware of an unauthorized encampment at 600 William Street in Cobourg
Community and Social Services Director Lisa Horne said they’re working on a case by case basis to deal with the unique needs of individuals to chart a pathway out of encampment.
That includes supporting engagement with services that best address their needs which can vary widely.
The current encampment at 600 William Street is an active municipal services facility and because of this, the County has taken steps to ensure that essential municipal services will also continue.
