The Annual ‘Hike, Bike and Bark for Hospice’ event returns to Victoria Park in Cobourg on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 starting at 9 a.m.
This year the event is returning to a one day format designed to bring the community together to celebrate, remember and raise critical funds for the Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation.
Community Care Northumberland’s Director of Donor Relations and Communications Joel Scott told us why they’re moving back to an in-person, one day event.
Scott told us that more than half the funding for Ed’s House comes from the community at events like this which is, at its heart a celebration of community and a day for remembrance.
The days goal is to raise funds to support the operation of Community Care Northumberland’s hospice service programs in our community including the Palliative Care Community Team and Volunteer Hospice Visiting program which operate alongside the 24/7 end-of-life care provided at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, all offered at no cost to the client.
You can sign up as an individual, a family, or a team, and choose your activity – hike, bike, or walk with your furry friend. There are both 1 km and 5 km routes to choose from and this year marks the return to Victoria Park in Cobourg.
Trish Baird, CEO, Community Care Northumberland says, “This event holds a special place in our hospice community hearts as a long standing fundraising and awareness event. Supporting people and their families in the community who are facing a life limiting illness is key to offering a full spectrum of hospice services.”
Of course sponsors make a big difference to events like Hike Bike and Bark and this years presenting sponsors, Tina Hubicki & Lee Caswell of Bosley Real Estate Ltd. are proud to help support such a worthy cause.
Scott told us that those bringing their four-legged friends have another treat in store thanks to Paulmac’s Pets and The Ryan Huffman Real Estate Team.
