The Quinte Symphony, 8 Wing Concert Band and 8 Wing Pipes and Drums Band are doing a collaborate performance called Tribute to the Brave to support the National Air Force Museum on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 in Trenton.
Three orchestras are coming together to perform both joint and individual musical pieces to help fundraise for the National Air Force Museum on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
“The orchestras will be set up under the wings of the Halifax bomber,” said Nancy Lewis – President of the Quinte Symphony. “The performance will have some unique pieces like Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan, and also some traditional pieces like Amazing Grace and the RCAF march.”
Lewis told us about the line up.
The concert benefits the National Air Force Museum Foundation, which is the funding arm of the museum. The National Air Force Museum of Canada is an aviation museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Royal Canadian Air Force and is located on the west side of CFB Trenton.
Nancy told us they’re changing things up a bit.
The performance will also include an arrangement by Peter Meechan called “Letters for Home”, which features entries from soldiers’ diaries mixing words with music.
According to Lewis, the venue will make the night extra special.
