People across the county still need housing.
That’s the focus of World Homeless Day, which aims to draw attention to the needs of unsheltered individuals and provide them with uplifting opportunities. The day is officially recognized on October 10.
In Cobourg, two events are planned for the occasion. Each event will be free of charge, but donations will be accepted at the door.
Two film screenings will take place on October 10 at Cobourg Collegiate Institute and on October 12 at Grace Church. Both screenings will start at 6:30 p.m.
The events will feature “How Far Would You Go” by Johan Hallberg-Campbell and “A Better Tent City,” which explores homelessness in the Waterloo Region.
Jenni Frenke, a volunteer organizer, says they hope to show love to residents experiencing homelessness.
“More and more of our neighbors are experiencing homelessness, and as a group, we hope to not only show the human side of homelessness but also inspire some folks to take action in implementing creative solutions to address the housing crisis through a community perspective.”
