Today, the urgency of food security has never been greater. Thanks to the efforts of lcoal food banks and their generous donors and volunteers, many in Northumberland are able to worry less about how to feed their families.
Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank’s Jeff Sheils tells us more and more people are relying on them.
Sheils shared that they’ve been able to increase visits from once a month to once a week at the food bank largely because of a great donor and volunteer network in the County.
This year Tim Hortons has chosen Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank as the recipient of their charity efforts in Northumberland which means 50% of proceeds will go to the food bank and the remainder to Tim Hortons Camps. In Brighton, half the proceeds will go to the Brighton Fairshare Food Bank and Trenton to the Trenton Food Bank.
From November 13 to 19, you can treat yourself to their iconic red and green sugar cookie filled with white chocolate and lovingly decorated by a team of devoted volunteers and community partners.
