Do you have a furry friend on your shopping list? The Leos of Brighton will be at Sobeys on Saturday November 25th, 2023 and on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm selling dog and cat gifts to support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides Program.
Janet Marissen, member of the Lions Club of Prince Edward County, tells us about the Leos.
A Leo is a youth organization of Lions Clubs International. Leos are the youngest members of the Lions organization. Leo clubs encourage youths to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities. Leo clubs may be based within a school or in the local community, and East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) has a very active charter.
“I will have my foster puppy at Sobeys this Saturday,” said Janet Marissen – Lions Member of Prince Edward Lions Club and a puppy foster for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. “To support our Leos as they sell dog and cat treats for their annual fundraiser in support of Dog Guides programs.”
Marissen breaks it down.
The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is a national charitable foundation that was created by the Lions of Canada. Its mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them Dog Guides at no cost. The foundation provides six types of Dog Guides: Canine Vision, Hearing Ear, Service, Seizure Response, Autism Assistance, and Diabetic Alert 1. The foundation has been around for 40 years and has provided more than 3,000 Dog Guides to Canadians in need. The foundation is funded by donations and does not receive any government funding.
Marissen says more.
The local Leos members will be at Sobeys on Saturday, November 25th, 2023 and on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, selling dog and cat treat packages to raise dollars for this very worthy cause.
