Northumberland County has successfully negotiated a contract extension with Circular Materials Ontario (CMO) for its blue box pickup program until the end of 2025.
This ensures the seamless continuation of recycling services during the province-wide transition to Extended Producer Responsibility.
The County will maintain accountability for waste services, providing curbside and deposit collections for the Blue Box program.
The fee-for-service contract guarantees uninterrupted recycling efforts, allowing residents to rely on familiar curbside collection services.
The Material Recovery Facility in Grafton will transition to Emterra Environmental, supporting the ongoing management of recyclable materials.
More information about this transition is available on the County’s website at Transition of recycling system to producers – Northumberland County and through the province at Producer responsibility for Ontario’s waste diversion programs | ontario.ca.
