Northumberland Hills Hospital is getting a fourth operating room, thanks to a generous community donation. The hospital foundation has received a cheque from the William B.G. Humphries’ Radlett Foundation for more than $2.5 million.
NHH says the money will pay for the construction and equipping of the new operating theatre which has been a priority of recent fundraising activities.
Humphries died in 2020. His life’s work included supporting numerous charities to improve the quality of life for Northumberland residents. Today, the Radlett Foundation continues his work of community building to celebrate his legacy.
NHH Foundation CEO Rhonda Cunningham says, “This donation truly shows how philanthropy can bring to life visionary projects and allow us to evolve and change to meet the needs of our community.”
Construction will begin this year. “A fourth operating room will increase our local and regional surgical capacity and allow for a decrease in surgical wait times,” says Dr. Andrew Stratford, Chief of Surgical Services. Stratford says “It will also help us (NHH) to attract and retain talented medical professionals and create the opportunity to explore bringing new surgical services to the area.”
