The fifth edition of Northumberland’s popular Handbags for Hospice event in support of Ed’s House is making a comeback and is shaping up to be another must-attend magical evening, say organizers.
And as of Feb. 7, Northumberland residents could secure their tickets for the fundraiser promising another evening of fun, fashion, friendship, and more – and all during a momentous year for the hospice.
Hosted by Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation, the popular fashion-inspired fundraiser raises critical monies in support of local hospice care.
“Prepare for an unforgettable evening on Thursday, April 4, 2024, as Handbags for Hospice makes its grand return to the Best Western Inn and Convention Centre (in Cobourg),” said organizers with the Ed’s House foundation, while announcing tickets were officially available.
Attendees will get to indulge in glamour for a good cause, added organizers.
The fifth edition is shaping up to be “extraordinary,” featuring “a vast selection of glamourous handbags and other exquisite items and experiences.”
There will be live and silent auctions, hors d’oeuvres, and more thrilling surprises to come, added organizers.
“We are thrilled to welcome back community leaders, signature sponsor Tony Pulla, of Re/Max Lakeshore Realty, and pearl sponsor Jacqueline Pennington, of Re/Max Hallmark First Group Realty. Their unwavering support is invaluable, and we are grateful for their continued commitment,” added the foundation.
Tickets are $100 and available via www.commcare.ca.
The Handbags for Hospice event raises monies to support hospice service programs in Northumberland and 24-7 end-of-life care and services at Ed’s House. These services are all offered at no cost to residents and their families, which is why fundraising is so crucial. Government funding does not cover all costs related to Community Care Northumberland and Ed’s House services.
This year also marks a monumental year for Ed’s House as the original vision for the hospice to serve as a 10-bed hub will be realized. The hospice opened with six rooms in September 2020, with the goal of expanding to a 10-bed facility in future years as funding permitted.
The team confirmed work on the expansion officially just kicked off, with Dalren Limited onsite and working to turn the expansion dream into a reality. It is anticipated crews will be working on the four future suites until about end of March, said the hospice team.
