Art Explorers Academy has officially opened its doors in Market Square in Quinte West.
Dedicated to elevating the creative education of children and adults, owner Michelle Doran is thrilled to start offering her programs to the community, the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce recently announced.
Doran grew up in Orono and attended university at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto.
“Amidst her tenure, she moved to Florence, Italy, as part of a study abroad program and ended up staying almost a decade,” reads the chamber’s release.
While working as a freelance illustrator and textile artist overseas, Doran met her husband, and they had their first child.
“After having our first baby we decided to move back to Canada for the greater opportunities here,” said Doran.
Once their second child started kindergarten, Doran was ready for a fresh career change, which sparked her idea to start Art Explorers Academy.
Combining their love of art and working with children, the instructors at Art Explorers Academy empower their students through the cultivation of their creativity, it was explained.
Workshops are offered for all ages. The academy also offers after-school and weekend classes.
“By teaching both traditional and experimental techniques, students are offered a way to progress in their skills while staying inspired and challenged.”
Art Explorers also organizes paint nights for adults and kid’s birth parties.
Private lessons are also available for kids and adults upon request.
In addition to the program schedule, Art Explorers’ studio is open Tuesday to Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., where visitors can view and purchase art.
Residents can check out the new spot at 54 Market Square in Trenton.
Program information is also accessible via www.artexplorersacademy.com and on social.
