According to the Ontario Conservation Officers Association, it’s time to remove huts from Ontario’s frozen lakes in March.
Leaving them out after the ice breaks up is against the law, even if you have registration dates.
Anglers can still fish without a hut or use a small cloth or synthetic hut under seven square meters.
OCOA President Derek Hebner reminds anglers to stay safe and follow the removal dates, which vary by region.
For Northumberland it’s March 1st.
