After a stop during a RIDE checkpoint in Cobourg, Northumberland OPP say they seized 12 grams of suspected cocaine.
On Tuesday, Northumberland OPP confirmed charges were laid after a reduce impaired driving everywhere (RIDE) check over the weekend.
On Saturday, March 9, at about 11:55 p.m., police said they were conducting their spot check on Division in Cobourg, when a passenger vehicle approached and was stopped. Police allege an investigation led to the seizure of about 12 grams of suspected cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, police said Jacob Sutherland, 18, of Cobourg, was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, and driver fail to surrender licence.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court at a later date, said police.
