Ontario is giving municipalities 1.6-billion dollars more for building key infrastructure to help support new home construction.
Premier Doug Ford says he has heard from municipal leaders that a lack of funds to build roads and water lines is one of the biggest barriers to getting more homes built.In his speech, Premier Doug Ford said this is a response to the concerns he’s heard from lower-tier governments.
$1 billion is set aside for the new municipal housing infrastructure program, and the water systems fund is seeing a $625 million infusion to add to the existing $200 million.
Ford said reaching their goal of 1.5 million new homes by 2031 is more important than ever.
Premier Doug Ford said municipal leaders know best.
The new infrastructure program supports projects that allow for future housing growth and development.
