Environment Canada says an early spring storm is expected to bring strong winds and rain to the Northumberland and Quinte regions Tuesday and Wednesday.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Northumberland, Quinte and Belleville areas, saying there’s also potential for some wet snow late Wednesday into Thursday.
Officials say a Colorado low is expected to start affecting the region Tuesday.
Rain, which may be heavy at times, is expected to start later Tuesday morning, and continue through Wednesday.
On Wednesday night, as cooler air pushes in, the rain may mix with, or transition over to wet snow, which is expected to ease Thursday evening, say officials.
Rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 millimetres are possible by Wednesday evening with only trace amounts of wet snow expected at this time.
Very strong easterly winds are anticipated to develop Tuesday night with gusts possibly exceeding 80 km/h in some locales. The winds will ease on Wednesday, adds Environment Canada.
Officials note power outages are possible.
