
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit has seen a sharp increase in opioid poisonings in Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County.
Enhanced outreach and naloxone kit distribution are underway to tackle overdoses which can be recognized by signs like small pupils and shallow breathing.
In case of an overdose, call 9-1-1, administer naloxone, and provide rescue breathing.
The Good Samaritan Act protects those offering assistance during emergencies.
