Brighton is bringing back its “curbside giveaway days” to promote recycling and rehoming of unwanted items.
“We’ve received so many inquiries about our popular curbside giveaway days and we’re excited to announce they’re back for 2024,” the Municipality of Brighton recently announced.
In short, the initiative is about recycling, reusing and rehoming “unwanted” – but still usable – items.
Here’s what you need to know:
The curbside giveaway event returns this weekend on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5.
Residents who want to rid themselves of unwanted items can simply place them on the curb outside their homes starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
If folks come across some treasures that they think are worthy of a new home, they simply snatch them up.
Municipal staff are asking residents to ensure they don’t block roadways, sidewalks, driveways, cycling areas, et cetera, when taking part or putting items out to the curbs.
Any remaining items that aren’t picked up are homeowners’ responsibility to bring back inside by Sunday at 8 p.m., noted the municipality.
Leftover items can always be donated to local thrift stores. As a reminder, the Brighton Community Recycling Centre remains an option for unusable items, added municipal staff.
