Residents and visitors of Northumberland County can contribute to vital treatment and services for local children by patronizing McDonald’s on May 8.
Five Counties Children’s Centre has been selected as the beneficiary of this year’s McHappy Day fundraiser, marking a significant first for the organization.
Funds raised will support the Building Abilities For Life campaign, which addresses critical needs such as speech therapy and occupational therapy to reduce wait times.
Lisa Wilson, owner of the local McDonald’s restaurants told us how they select local organizations.
Since 2014, Wilson’s restaurants have raised over $145,000 for children’s charities.
Lyn Giles, director of fund development at Five Counties told us that last year alone, Five Counties served over 1,615 children and youth in Northumberland County and over 6,200 across its broader region.
She told us how the community’s support can make a difference.
Giles told us she’s a mom of a Five Counties kid.
McHappy Day is part of McDonald’s ongoing commitment to supporting local children’s charities, with over $7.5 million raised nationwide in 2023.
To show support for Five Counties, residents are encouraged to visit McDonald’s in Cobourg or Port Hope on May 8, where staff and volunteers will be present to collect donations and express gratitude to visitors.
