Later this summer, downtown Brighton could transform to look like a scene from the movie “Grease.”
This August, Brighton is taking “Movies in the Park” to a new level with a showing of the classic “Grease” film — but it will be so much more than just a movie showing, explained community events committee chair Lloyd Hutchinson.
Normally, Movies in the Park are on Thursdays in Memorial Park. This year, the free fun returns for one night only, but organizers are pulling out all the stops for Aug. 17.
“We’re going to change it to a Saturday night — we’re going to have some food vendors there as well,” said Hutchinson.
After taking in the classic cars, musician Ian Roy will light up the stage from 6:30 to 8 p.m. before the movie showing.
All are welcome, with poodle skirts and other Grease-inspired attire if they’ve got it.
“Our committee came up with an idea, and we went just with it. We contacted a car club, and they’re coming, and food vendors are coming. We’ll shut down the street and we’re going to have a fun night,” summarized Hutchinson.
The DBIA will also be handing out chips and pops, added Hutchinson.
