Residents of Hastings, Northumberland, and Prince Edward counties are advised to prepare for heightened military activity as the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command conducts training in the area from June 12 to 28.
The exercises will take place across various communities, including Belleville, Campbellford, Picton, Quinte West, Tweed, and Stirling. During this period, local residents might notice an uptick in military vehicles and aircraft, as well as uniformed and plain-clothed military personnel. These individuals may be seen carrying personal firearms as part of the training. Additionally, there will be sounds associated with simulated gunfire and explosives, however only blank ammunition and imitation explosives will be utilized.
These exercises are crucial for enhancing the preparedness and capabilities of our special operations forces. Training in both urban and rural settings that are unfamiliar to the troops help them develop the expertise needed to effectively serve and protect in any environment.
The Canadian Special Operations Forces Command expresses gratitude for the cooperation and understanding of local landowners and community members.
