The Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation held its Annual Meeting on June 19, marking a year of significant achievements and community support.
CEO Rhonda Cunningham proudly presented a review of the past year, emphasizing both the routine and extraordinary efforts that have driven the Foundation’s success.
Cunningham highlighted several key milestones, including the successful compliance with the new Ontario Not-for-Profit (ONCA) legislation and the launch of the Exceptional Community, Exceptional Care Campaign in May 2023. Despite these additional challenges, the Foundation’s regular programs flourished, breaking records in multiple areas. The Light up a Life campaign raised an impressive $300,000, funding a much-needed automated medication tablet packager for the hospital.
The Foundation also saw a 24 percent increase in revenue from third-party events, supported by the continued success of local fundraisers such as McHappy Day and the Northumberland Ball. Galalicious, a unique replacement for the traditional gala, attracted 568 attendees across 14 venues, setting new fundraising records with its online auction.
Financially, the Foundation reported a robust performance, with operational revenue reaching $6.7 million and expenses decreasing by 4 per cent from the previous year. The planned giving program also thrived, with over $2.2 million in legacy gifts realized.
Board Treasurer Ian MacVicar shared that almost $2.1 million was allocated to the hospital for new equipment, technology upgrades, and staff education. Looking ahead, the hospital plans to draw on approximately $10 million from the Foundation’s funds in fiscal 2025 to further enhance services.
Foundation Chair Gavin Ivory concluded the meeting by commending the Board, Foundation staff, and community partners for their remarkable achievements and collaboration over the past year. For more information on NHH Foundation’s initiatives and impact, visit NHH Foundation’s official website.
