Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) officially has a new chief for its emergency department.
CMH has announced Dr. David Li has been appointed to the position permanently. Li had previously been serving as interim chief since last fall.
CMH said the appointment follows a thorough search and evaluation process.
“I’m honored to take on the role of chief of the emergency department,” said Li. “I look forward to continuing to work with our incredible team to provide the highest standard of care to our patients and to support the health and well-being of our community.”
In a CMH release, it states Li brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence in emergency medicine to his position – and that his leadership as interim chief has proven critical in maintaining and enhancing quality care in the ED.
Chief of staff Dr. Dimitri Louvish has also praised Li’s work.
“Dr. Li has shown outstanding commitment and expertise in his work with our emergency department. We are thrilled to have him leading the team and are confident that his vision and leadership will drive further advancements in our emergency services.”
After earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Université de Montréal, Li completed a Postgraduate Family Medicine Residency Program at McGill University. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University and is fluent in both English and French, reads CMH’s release.
Before joining CMH in 2021, Li gained valuable experience working in Northwestern Ontario, specifically in Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
There, he also served in the ED, the inpatient unit, and at medical clinics.
Reflecting on his time in Northwestern Ontario, Li shared: “The experience really prepared me for the unique challenges of rural medicine, and I couldn’t be happier to have found a home here in Campbellford.”
