YMCA Northumberland is delighted to announce that Dan Bulger, a dedicated volunteer and former board member, has been appointed as an Officer to YMCA Canada’s prestigious Fellowship of Honour. This esteemed recognition, the highest honour awarded by YMCA Canada, celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the YMCA movement.
Dan Bulger’s journey with the YMCA began in 1978, marking over 46 years of unwavering commitment and service. Notably, Dan has led the Waterpower Fitness Class in Cobourg since 1982. This unique pool-based workout, designed to appeal to a broader audience than traditional Aquafit classes, reflects Dan’s innovative approach and dedication. Over the years, he has contributed more than 5,000 volunteer hours to this program alone, inspiring many participants to become volunteers and donors themselves.
Beyond his work in the pool, Dan has been instrumental in program development, leadership, and fundraising campaigns that have significantly advanced YMCA Northumberland’s mission. His efforts have helped shape the organization, contributing to the construction of new facilities, enhancement of programs, and expansion of services.
“Dan is truly deserving of this prestigious recognition,” said Eunice Kirkpatrick, President & CEO of YMCA Northumberland. “His tireless efforts and dedication have positively impacted countless lives in our community and beyond. We wouldn’t be the Y we are today without him.”
Dan Bulger’s remarkable achievements will be formally recognized with the Fellowship of Honour Medal at a ceremony in Ottawa this September. His legacy continues to inspire and strengthen the YMCA community.
