Northumberland OPP have laid several charges after responding to eight unrelated collisions over the weekend.
Here’s a quick look at the calls:
On Friday, July 19, at about 6:50 p.m., police said they received a report about a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 401 westbound in Cramahe. There were no injuries reported.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 36-year-old Peterborough resident was charged with follow too closely and fail to surrender insurance card.
Also on Friday, at about 8:08 p.m., officers said they responded to a tractor trailer reported to be on its side on Telephone Road in Cramahe. No injuries were reported.
As a result of an investigation, police said a 23-year-old Kitchener resident was charged with careless driving.
On Saturday, July 20, at about 2:10 p.m., OPP said they responded to a non-injury collision involving two vehicles at a commercial premises on Front Street North in Campbellford. There are no charges at this time, said police, on Monday.
On Sunday, July 21, at about 9:15 p.m., OPP said a member of the public reported a single-vehicle collision in the County Road 41 Brighton area.
EMS was also dispatched. Police said they arrived to find a passenger vehicle on its roof in the ditch. Minor injuries were reported.
After speaking with the driver, police said they made an approved screening device (ASD) demand, and as a result, the driver was arrested and transported to a detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 60-year-old Peterborough resident was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
In addition to a future court date, the accused was also handed a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
Also on Sunday, at about 4:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a passenger vehicle on County Road 30 in Brighton, said OPP.
Paramedics and the fire department also responded to the collision, where one of the involved vehicles was on its roof, reported police.
Minor injuries were reported as two passengers were transported to hospital, said police.
As a result of an investigation, OPP said a 17-year-old Brighton resident was charged with disobey stop sign – fail to stop, and careless driving.
In another call Sunday, shortly before 5 p.m., police said they received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle on County Road 28 in Port Hope.
Paramedics and firefighters also responded. The motorcycle operator was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said OPP.
On Monday, police said the investigation is ongoing, and that no charges had been laid at that time.
Later Sunday, shortly after 7 p.m., officers said they responded to a three-vehicle collision on Hwy. 401 westbound in Cramahe. No injuries were reported.
As a result of an investigation, police said a 51-year-old driver from Montreal was charged with careless driving.
In another call, at about 9:30 p.m., OPP said they responded after receiving a report of a collision at a business premises in Cramahe. The complainant advised a pick-up truck had collided with a gas pump and left the area, said police.
Police started an investigation, and said they later spoke to the parties involved.
As a result of the investigation, police said an 18-year-old Colborne resident was charged with fail to remain, fail to report accident, fail to have insurance card, and careless driving.
A 36-year-old Colborne resident was also charged with fail to remain, accompanying driver fail to provide breath sample, and occupant – fail to report accident, said police.
None of the charges in any of the above unrelated incidents have been proven in court.
