Due to former Bay of Quinte MPP and Education Minister Todd Smith’s announcement that he is stepping away from politics to accept a position in the private sector, the province has called a by-election.
The Premier’s office has announced today that a writ has been issued under Section 9.1 of the Election Act for the by-election district of Bay of Quinte.
Pursuant to the act, elections must be called on a Wednesday and held the fifth Thursday after the date of the issue of the writ.
Election day for constituents in the Bay of Quinte will be September 19, 2024.
