The COVID-19 outbreak at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) has now spread to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (1A), following an earlier outbreak in the Restorative Care Unit (1B).
In response, NHH has extended visitor and volunteer restrictions to both units, effective immediately. The hospital emphasizes the importance of strict adherence to infection prevention and control measures to curb the virus’s spread.
NHH has implemented several precautions, including the temporary pause of regular visiting in the affected units and replacing dining room service with in-room service. Staff members are required to conduct daily self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms and follow enhanced PPE protocols. The hospital is also conducting thorough monitoring of high-risk contacts among patients and staff, with mandatory vaccinations and booster shots for all personnel.
Enhanced environmental cleaning and proactive communication are also part of NHH’s strategy to manage the outbreak. Visitors are reminded to avoid the hospital if they have recently developed COVID-19 symptoms and to adhere to the hospital’s updated visiting guidelines. NHH continues to provide updates on the outbreak through its website and social media channels, urging the community to remain vigilant.
