Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre’s annual Walk A Mile event is set to take place on October 5th in downtown Cobourg during the Cobourg Harvest Festival.
Celebrating its 17th year, the event aims to raise awareness and funds for Cornerstone’s vital services, which provided support to nearly 2,000 women, children, and youth last year through shelter, counselling, housing, and prevention programs.
This year, the walk is proudly sponsored by Balder Corporation, with additional support from Canadian Tire Cobourg and Post Consumer Brands as Challenge Sponsors. Cornerstone’s Executive Director, Nancy Johnston, expressed her excitement for the event, noting the community’s unwavering support. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and make a difference,” Johnston said. “We are grateful for our sponsors, especially Balder Corporation, for their continued generosity.”
The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast provided by the Cobourg Lions Club, along with coffee and treats from Starbucks Cobourg. The walk, which can be completed in any type of footwear, will be led by the Cobourg Legion Pipes & Drums. Be sure not to miss the First Responders Challenge which is an annual crowd favourite and provides an exciting start to the day’s activities.
