Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) will close the Prince Edward Street (County Rd 64) railway crossing in Brighton next Monday for essential road-level grade crossing repairs.
The closure will begin at 7:00 AM on Monday, September 23, 2024 and end at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 26. 2024 impacting motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. No access will be allowed through the railway crossing during this time.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, detours will be in place. Southbound traffic will be rerouted via Richardson Street, while northbound traffic will detour via Butler Street. Detour signs will be posted to guide residents safely around the closure.
This repair work being performed by CPKC follows significant safety upgrades last year, which included new signage, pedestrian railings, and updated signals.
Northumberland County is advising residents to plan their routes ahead of time, expect minor delays, and remain cautious while driving near the detours.
